Ballroom Dancing Etiquette
We provide a brief period of basic ballroom dance step instruction followed by an evening of dancing and socializing in a friendly, helpful, Christian atmosphere. We are all learning and improving and having fun in the process.
Attendees sign up individually or as families, rather than as a date with a specific dance partner. Our Etiquette policy is designed to foster an atmosphere that lets everyone get to dance. We have two major considerations - consideration for gentlemen asking ladies whom they do not know to dance and consideration for ladies who might not get asked to dance if gentlemen only ask the friends they know.
Gentlemen: Your job is to ask several different ladies to dance, not just the friends you know. After asking many different partners to dance, it is okay to repeat. This is so that all the ladies get asked to dance. Married couples may, of course, dance repeatedly with each other.
Ladies: Your job is to say yes when asked to dance. While we are certain that you would be polite and do so anyway, we want to point out that since the gentlemen are required to ask many different ladies to dance, not just the friends they know so that everyone gets asked to dance, you are required to say yes, in all cases.
